Competition Associate - Global Law Firm - London

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Competition Associate with 2-5 years of PQE to join the London office of a leading international law firm. The firm's Competition team has earned a reputation for providing strategic, high-impact advice on merger control, foreign direct investment (FDI), compliance, and competition law risk management.

Overview

Our client is a global law firm known for its work with innovative and high-growth companies across a range of sectors, including life sciences, technology, financial services, media, and consumer goods. The London office is a critical part of the firm's global platform, offering expert guidance across regulatory regimes in the UK, EU, and beyond.

The firm's competition practice focuses on advising clients on complex merger control and FDI clearance processes, managing compliance risks, and representing clients in investigations by UK and EU authorities. The team also counsels clients on public procurement and regulatory frameworks, offering end-to-end advice that spans industries and jurisdictions.

The Role

As a Competition Associate, you will:

  • Provide strategic advice on UK and EU merger control and FDI clearance processes, including coordinating global filings.
  • Support clients with competition law compliance strategies related to pricing, distribution, licensing, and joint venture arrangements.
  • Represent clients during investigations, sector inquiries, and market reviews conducted by UK and EU authorities, including dawn raids.
  • Advise on competition litigation, including abuse of dominance and cartel claims.
  • Guide clients on public procurement laws and government tender processes, particularly in the life sciences sector.
  • Counsel on broader regulatory matters, such as digital, utility, aviation, and consumer regulations, as well as UK and EU sanctions and export control laws.
  • Work with clients across industries, including consumer products, technology, media, telecommunications, financial services, transportation, and life sciences.

The Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2-5 years of PQE with experience in competition law, gained at a leading law firm or in-house.
  • Strong understanding of UK and EU merger control processes and regulatory regimes.
  • Experience advising on compliance strategies and competition risk management.
  • Familiarity with investigations by competition authorities and public procurement processes.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong analytical skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team and build lasting client relationships.
