Our client is a leading London-based media business, renowned for its work in film, TV and theatre. We have a role for a Head of Legal to join its Senior Leadership Team.
This high-profile, managerial role requires exceptional stakeholder management, leadership capabilities, and expertise within the media industry.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the role involves close collaboration with senior leadership, including the Head of Finance, Head of HR, and the Board, to oversee the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the business.
Core Responsibilities
You will lead business and legal affairs support by the team on a range of strategically important matters, whilst maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance, risk management, and compliance with laws and policies.
This is a multi-faceted role with key focus areas including:
- Management - partnering with the leadership team on business operations, particularly HR and the Employee Share Option Scheme
- Compliance & Corporate Governance -ensuring the business complies with all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks
- Public Relations -responsibility for our clients’ public-facing communications and reputation
- Team Leadership -leading and mentoring the in-house legal team
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a qualified lawyer and collaborative team player with substantial in-house legal experience within the media industry. You will have:
- extensive knowledge of contract, commercial, and intellectual property law
- Familiarity with the structures and systems within the media industry (film, TV, theatre, advertising, publishing)
- Experience negotiating and drafting employment and talent contracts
- Strong people management skills and HR policy expertise
- Ability to anticipate and manage litigation, including liaising with insurers
