In-House Counsel (Commercial) - 12 month FTC

An exciting new job has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel to join an energy and utilities business as a strategic member of their in-house legal function in Cardiff. This is a 12 month contract. This role will be a wide-ranging role supporting the General Counsel by providing a broad range of commercial advice to senior stakeholders across the business.

The Role
You will join this close-knit and lean legal team of 2 in a senior counsel role providing timely commercial advice to stakeholders from across the main functions of the business, including Procurement, Regulation, Health and Safety, Net Zero, HR. Some experience with infrastructure and construction would also be of interest but not the key focus of the role.

Your broad new role will give you the opportunity to be involved in everything from drafting and negotiating Commercial Agreements, IT/Cyber agreements, to providing strategic and commercially sensitive advice on Data Protection, Procurement Regulations, Commercial Disputes. Working with regulators and working on procurement matters also key part of this position.

You will have the opportunity to influence the business at a senior level and provide robust advice and guidance on risk management as well as regulatory obligations for operators in the utility and energy sectors.

The ideal caniddate

Our client are looking for an experienced Commercial lawyer with experience in-house, or gained at a high quality national or regional law firm. Exposure to advising clients in the utilities and energy sectors also highly desirable but not essential. You will be available at short notice and available to start in October or November. Candidates will also ideally be placed in the South West to enable 1 day a week in the office throughout the contract. If more flexibility is required then the client might still be open to this if you possess the right experience and skills.

Working arrangements: Hybrid and highly flexible (1 day in the office ideal)

Salary: DOE - Competitive
