Professionals Regulation Lawyer

Salary: £50,000- £60,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus benefits
Location: Canary Wharf, London (Hybrid working approach)
Hours: 35 hours per week, from 9.00 to 5.00, Monday to Friday
The role
As an Investigation Lawyer you will advise on a mixed caseload across the investigation teams. As well as helping Case Officers to prepare investigations to a hearing ready standard, you will be involved in advising on cases which do not meet the threshold for referral to a statutory committee. You will, on occasion, undertake some advocacy before the fitness to practise committee, and will develop line management and matrix management skills in this role whilst supporting junior legal staff.
You will need excellent investigative, communication, written, and analytical skills to work with and advise our Investigators. You must be a self-starter able to make autonomous, robust, proportionate, and evidence-based decisions. You will be expected to lead as a technical expert in investigation, supporting the Senior Lawyer (Investigations) at a strategic level, playing a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of care for people using pharmacy services.
This role is subject to a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of our pre-employment due diligence.
The successful applicant will:
- Effectively advise, investigate, and progress cases under investigation and ensure cases progressing to the Fitness to Practise Committee are prepared appropriately.
- Have experience of making proportionate evidence-based decisions, whilst being solutions focused, striving to ensure cases are completed in line with quality, timeliness, and cost objectives.
- Champion change and drive improvements in service delivery. Represent or deputise for the Senior Lawyers for matters relating to the investigation of all types of cases.
- Work collaboratively as part of professional regulation (Fitness to Practise) to ensure the quality of investigations proceeding to hearing are sufficient to meet our statutory objective of keeping people safe.
