A rare opportunity for a mid-level UK - or common law – qualified financial services regulatory associate to join major global law firm in the beautiful offshore jurisdiction of Bermuda!

Our client is a major global law firm with a strong network of offices around the world.

Its Bermuda office is in growth mode, having doubled in size in the past four years and with a very strong pipeline of work in its key practice areas of banking and finance, corporate, insurance, regulatory and litigation.

It is now looking to hire a common law qualified law qualified banking and finance associate to assist a UK qualified Financial Services Regulatory partner on the ground in Bermuda.  You will advise financial services businesses on the evolving international regulatory landscape and also the existing regulatory framework in Bermuda.  Work will regularly include reviewing and analysing AML/ATF policies and procedures; advising and completing change of control applications and other statutory notifications; advising and preparing licensing applications for regulated financial institutions; advising clients on general regulatory matters such as economic substance, data privacy and protection and regulatory governance.

Requirements for the role are as follows:

  • Qualified as a lawyer in the UK/Australian/New Zealand/Canada/South Africa;
  • Strong career background from a major national or international law firm in a major financial centre such as London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Sydney, Auckland or Toronto;
  • From 3 years+ PQE as an Associate in the Financial Services Regulatory field;
  • Personable, and versatile approach, with excellent team working skills.
