Job Details

Our client is a leading international organisation.

Based near Bristol, we are looking for a qualified lawyer with circa 3+ years post qualification experience who has excellent communication skills, is organised, flexible and resilient whilst able to champion proactive problem solving and attention to detail.

Based at the global HQ and reporting to the Head of Legal for EMEA, you will be pivotal in the provision of quality cross-border legal advice within a small and high performing team.

This is an established and high performing legal function.

As Legal Counsel you will be responsible for advising key stakeholders across  its group of  companies on a broad range of areas such as commercial contracts (including framework agreements, master supply agreements, agent / distributor / reseller agreements and non-standard terms for supply and purchase), disputes, data protection issues, employment and HR issues, M&A and internal restructurings, real estate transactions and IP matters.

You will suggest solutions to resolve business issues in a commercial and pragmatic way which is easy to understand.

You will constantly think of new ways to drive efficiencies and influence business thinking. You will interact with members of the Management Board and make an impact every day - no two days are the same.

Experience requirements:

Qualified lawyer with 3+ years PQE. Must have solid experience in general commercial contracts. Additional experience in data protection, employment or disputes/litigation is highly desirable. Extensive experience in providing consistent and clear risk-based advice in an in-house environment is essential.

The successful candidate will be someone who:

Is commercially aware, bright, confident and proactive. Can build relationships at all levels through effective communication and teamwork. Can work autonomously but be a team player. Is calm under pressure and organises workload to be as efficient as possible. Has excellent attention to detail with a tenacious approach to best practice. Our client is going through an exciting period of change and growth, building on the existing market leadership.

3 office days required.

Clifton Legal is the legal division of Clifton Search - a specialist search and selection recruitment firm. We are a niche, boutique firm and focus purely on the legal and corporate governance markets. Our primary focus is on opportunities from newly qualified to General Counsel level.

We set up Clifton in 2014 to fulfil what we believed was a gap in the market to provide clients and candidates in our core markets with the knowledge and connections of a specialist and experienced recruitment partner allied to a pro-active and integrated approach. In essence we bring the professionalism and targeted networking approach of a search solution but with a functional rather than sector driven model. We augment this with the personal touch, flexibility and proactive rate of response of a traditional contingent recruitment service.

The leadership team has c50 years of recruitment experience and as experienced recruiters with a proven track record, we have a deep knowledge and understanding of our markets, a large network of legal and governance professionals and a genuine passion for delivering a professional, honest and quality service to all stakeholders within the recruitment process.

We are rigorous in ensuring that we have a thorough understanding of both candidate and client requirements at the outset to ensure the delivery of a well-matched service and a successful campaign for both parties.

Our long-standing client base is comprised of large UK, US and European listed multinationals and corporate businesses and spans a wide range of sectors. We operate out of offices in Bristol and London but recruit right across the UK, Europe and the US.

Why work with us?

Unlike most recruitment companies we don’t operate with the typical “sales” driven culture that’s common in our sector. This gives us greater independence and objectivity and allows us to focus purely on your agenda and career aspirations and find the right opportunity for you – even if you are not “actively looking” in the market.

Whether you or keen to secure a new opportunity right now or simply keeping an eye on the market for that perfect opportunity, we commit to offer you:

  • Honest, impartial and specialist market advice/intelligence from recruiters with extensive experience.
  • CV appraisal and preparation guidance.
  • Full, in-depth application support throughout the recruitment process from initial approach, interview preparation and feedback, salary negotiation, resignation management – right up to starting your new opportunity.
  • Up to the minute and specific salary and benefits benchmarking relative to your experience, sector and location.
  • Long term career planning and professional development advice.
  • Complete confidentiality and a guarantee that we will never share your CV with any third party without your express knowledge and consent.

If that sounds like the kind of recruitment partner that you would prefer to work with then please do get in touch with one of our directors:
