Exciting rare partnership opportunity for a senior financial services regulatory lawyer with this major international law firm in Bermuda!

Our client is one of the world’s leading international offshore law firms with offices in all the key offshore jurisdictions as well as the UK, Asia and other key global financial centres. As part of its succession planning, it is actively looking to appoint a senior common law qualified financial services regulatory lawyer – at partner or senior counsel level – in its thriving Bermuda office.

In this leadership role, you will advise financial services businesses on the existing regulatory framework in Bermuda as well as the evolving international regulatory landscape. Work will include advising on a wide range of regulatory matters, including review and analysis of AML/ATF policies and procedures; advising and completing change of control applications and other statutory notifications; advising and preparing licensing applications for regulated financial institutions; advising clients on general regulatory matters such as economic substance, data privacy and protection and regulatory governance.

Suitable candidates will be as follows:

• Qualified lawyer from a common law jurisdiction such as England & Wales, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada, and/or an offshore jurisdiction;
• Minimum 10+ years’ experience in financial services regulatory work from another major law firm, either in a key onshore location such as London, Toronto, Sydney, and Auckland, or another offshore jurisdiction including Bermuda, BVI, Cayman, Jersey and/or Guernsey;
• Already at partner (or Senior Counsel) level from another well-respected international law firm;
• Happy to commit to furthering your career in the beautiful island location of Bermuda.

Along with a senior position at one of the world’s leading offshore law firms with a strong commitment to both its Bermuda office and to its Global Financial Services Regulatory Practice, an excellent financial package, plus full relocation (if needed), will be provided.  Taxes are low in Bermuda (c.6%), meaning that net salaries are comparatively high when compared to the onshore world!
