New - our client is a leading Legal 100 firm with an excellent reputation for their stellar Private Client practice who frequently lead on high-profile, and high-value, matters including complex estate administration; offshore trusts; tax concerns and wills and probate issues. Due to growth, an opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Private Client Associate to join their Oxford team and play an integral role in the future development of the practice.

You will ideally have a minimum of 2-3 PQE+ years’ experience and have trained with a highly regarded city, regional or national firm with excellent academics. This experienced team can advise on all aspects of private client matters including in relation to tax, trusts, estate planning and estate administration. The Personal Tax, Trusts & Charities team undertakes the full spectrum of private client work, key areas being:

  • Preparation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney for UK based and international clients.
  • Estate planning (including lifetime and post-death planning), to cover advice on inheritance tax, capital gains tax and income tax and the creation of lifetime trusts Obtaining grants of probate or letters of administration and administering estate, including foreign domicile, re-sealing of grants and intestate estates Preparing deeds of variation, deeds of gifts and deeds of family arrangement Providing trust advice particularly around setting up, management and administration with reference to the firm's dedicated Trust Administration team (as required)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to have direct client contact and responsibility for your own caseload as well as assisting more senior colleagues on a wide variety of matters. Supporting a national team, you would be expected to assist and advise on tax efficient succession planning including Wills and trusts, trust administration, lasting powers of attorney, probate and the administration of estates. Clients will be varied, from landowners to shareholders in family businesses and directors of companies and their families.

The ideal profile will have gained some experience in advising high net worth clients on the full spectrum of Wealth Protection matters and be keen to take an active part in any business development initiatives. A significant volume of the work is for HNWI so any previous experience advising related clients would be an advantage. You can expect to advise a number of family offices and international families as to their ongoing affairs and international trust structures, including private trust company structures.

You can expect to work closely with a number of business families advising on existing structures set up for the management and governance of the family business, its interaction with family trusts and associated estate planning measures.
