Legal Counsel

Reporting into the Legal Director, key responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts, templates and T&Cs such as distribution agreements, sales contracts, vendor contracts, commercial arrangements and B2B/B2C terms.
• Liaising with key stakeholders in the business at all levels.
• Providing the business with advice on commercial risks and providing appropriate solutions.
• Advising on structuring, drafting and negotiating publishing and content acquisition and licensing transactions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations and laws (including without limitation GDPR and Consumer Rights Act).
• Identifying ways to enhance and support internal processes, policies and procedures to support strategic goals.
• Working in a collaborative and proactive manner with other global members of the legal function.
• Providing training to business stakeholders on key legal issues.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

• UK qualified lawyer with 1-3 PQE gained in private practice or within an in-house environment (however all candidates will be considered on merit).
• Prior experience in publishing or media is desirable.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and enthusiasm to work in a vibrant and fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to demonstrate a positive commercial and solutions-focused approach in dealing with a variety of global legal issues.
