The Role
An exciting opportunity for a junior lawyer to join Christie’s highly regarded Legal and Risk team in a broad role encompassing corporate, compliance and commercial work. The role will suit someone who is looking for varied experience and enjoys a fast-paced environment.
Principal responsibilities
1) Supporting the Legal and Compliance teams in providing advice and guidance to Christie’s business in relation to a variety of legal and regulatory issues including:
- Corporate advisory – advising on corporate, regulatory and licencing matters. This includes working with corporate counsel, Christie’s company secretariat and external providers to ensure the group’s compliance with Companies law and corporate government arrangements including by providing company secretarial support to the group, project management of the legal and risk aspects of corporate initiatives (such as expansion into new territories) and supporting routine corporate and regulatory work (e.g. drafting and negotiating intra-group treasury agreements, preparing the paperwork for s172 Companies Act compliance and annual Modern Slavery Act statements).
- Regulatory and licensing – assisting with the management of Christie’s AML & sanctions and data privacy programmes and supporting wider compliance initiatives, for example, competition law, import/export law and corporate compliance. This includes providing day-to-day and strategic advice, updating risk assessments, amending local and global policies, drafting and delivering training, drafting and filing regulatory requests and returns, participating in audits and inspections and acting as an escalation point for Christie’s compliance team in connection with due diligence, payments and high-risk transactions.
- Commercial – advising on and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements including partnerships, sponsorship and events agreements and facilities and operations agreements.
2) Contributing to and rolling-out training programmes (including assisting in the development of e-learning programmes and the creation and delivery of bespoke training), policies, best practices and precedents.
3) Assisting in managing external professional advisors and budgets for internal and external legal spend.

Required qualifications/experience
You must:
- Be an English law qualified solicitor NQ-3 years PQE
- If you trained in-house, have broad experience covering a range of legal areas, if you trained in private practice, have completed at least one corporate advisory or compliance seat.

- Experience working for a global organisation.
- Languages.
