The island’s team of Law Officers currently comprises the Attorney General, two Crown Counsel (Civil) Crown Counsel (Criminal)), with one full-time Legislative Draftspersons.. The Chambers are run professionally.
In this responsible role you will give legal advice to all organs of Government. Your effective and professional service in the conduct of civil proceedings will include dealing with pre-action correspondence, taking instructions from clients, drafting documents, advocacy in court, strategically directing such litigation and advising on a variety of government contracts.
Comfortable with tight pressured deadlines, you are a UK or commonwealth qualified solicitor or barrister with experience of commercial contract work and substantial experience of civil litigation, particularly in employment and medical negligence. The court structure is sound.
In addition, you must demonstrate our core values of fairness, integrity and teamwork and use your diverse expertise and experiences to ensure your time on the Island has the broadest benefit to St Helena. As an officer funded through the Technical Co-Operation Programme you will be expected to share your knowledge and skills beyond the workplace.
