Commercial Lawyer (Mat cover)

A global provider of port agency, marine services and digital solutions are seeking a Commercial Lawyer for a maternity cover for 12 months.

Fully remote but must be willing to come to the London office if required.

The role:

• Majority of the work relates to commercial contracts, reviewing customer or vendor contracts from all parts of the business.
• Lead on review and drafting of commercial contracts across the business (including customer agreements, vendor agreements, IT supplier agreements, intra-group agreements, and joint venture agreements).
• Participate in the business’ projects/strategy (compliance with contracting principles, review/analysis of existing commercial contracts, and business transformation).
• Assist the Group General Counsel and Compliance with advising on legal disputes across the business and liaising with insurers/external lawyers as required. 
• Take responsibility for monthly and quarterly cycles of litigation claims reporting.
• Ensure legal policies are up to date and relevant and be able to provide appropriate training on policies and procedures.
• Assist the Group General Counsel and Compliance with liaising with external lawyers regarding the business’ trademarks portfolio.

The ideal candidate:

• 2+ years PQE.
• UK Qualified.
• Experience in commercial contracts essential.
• Confidence in legal application and confidence in a wide range of legal challenges.
• Must be adaptable and can work cross-functionally.
• Have in house experience for an international corporate business.
• Shipping sector experience desired but not essential.
• Company secretarial experience desired but not essential.
