Finance Lawyer (3+ yrs.) for Global Corporate and Investment Bank, City

Our client is a highly regarded and very reputable banking institution in APAC. Having fostered an excellent reputation with the regulators and harnessed a consistent and stable flow of business, the London office (where this role is situated) has doubled in size over the past 5 years and continues to perform well, despite current economic conditions affecting other international banks.

As a result, we are now looking for a finance lawyer to join the team and engage in a role with real breadth and variety - effectively acting a regional counsel for all finance activities. This bank deals with matters encompassing commodities, real estate, trade, asset, energy and wider financing transactions, and these deals can be either bilateral or syndicated in nature.

Consequently, the successful candidate will likely be more of a finance generalist, with good knowledge of LMA rules/documentation, either from ‘general banking’ experience, or a practice which encompasses two or more of the aforementioned financing areas.

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Legal and Compliance in London and sits alongside another lawyer who deals with other areas of the bank’s activity, which pertains markets/trading matters.

More specifically, we are looking for:

• An English or Commonwealth qualified lawyer with a minimum of 3 years’ PQE in banking & finance from a reputable law firm or in-house team;
• Strong communication skills; Someone who is calm, resilient and professional;
• A lawyer who enjoys working as part of a team, but can also be self-sufficient, and has the ambition to carve out their own trajectory, and acquire further responsibilities on strategic, business-wide projects.

This role will suit excellent communicators, as aside from good technical knowledge, we are looking for lawyers who are adept at forging solid relationships with the business and who can translate legal and regulatory issues to senior management in a commercially minded manner.
