Head of Legal- Corporate

Clifton Search  Buckinghamshire, England, United Kingdom (Hybrid)

Head of Legal- Corporate

Six Figure Package + Car/Bonus – Home Counties

The Organisation

Our client is a leading UK environmental services organisation employing over 10,000 people with a turnover exceeding £1.4bn.

Under new private equity ownership, they are now gearing up for the next phase of ambitious growth.

Following a restructure of the Legal, compliance and company secretarial function, they are looking for an exceptional Head of Legal to join the team, based at their head office in the Home Counties

Whilst the role is based at their Head Office, they operate a hybrid style working arrangement with flexibility to work from home or other locations a couple of days a week.

The Role

Reporting into the General Counsel and Company Secretary, this is a newly created role operating at the Senior Leadership level. Given the ambitious growth targets and increasing impact of compliance and regulation across the sector, you will lead the Corporate in-house legal function, providing flexible support at both Group level and to the various trading entities across the UK.

You will have overall responsibility for the legal aspects of M&A activity across the group and manage a small team within the Legal Compliance and Company Secretarial functions.

This is an all-encompassing role which will require you to constantly switch gear depending on the requirements of a large and complex organisation. You will provide a sounding board to your team members who will look to you for support, leadership, and advice.

The Person

We are looking for an exceptional and experienced corporate lawyer (10+pqe) who will share our client’s vision and values. You will join an incredibly close-knit organisation and a team of highly committed people who have been instrumental to their success.

We would expect the successful applicant to display ambition, drive, and a strong commercial aptitude. This is a highly dynamic environment which will require you to perform at a high level with confidence and resilience.

The role will require a breadth of experience requiring you to adapt and be alive to a multitude of novel challenges.

You will be a dedicated team-player with management experience and will need to demonstrate a flexible and commercial approach, be a strong communicator and have the gravitas and credibility to influence and advise at both main board level and with internal/external stakeholders.

You will have strong experience across corporate disciplines particularly M&A and the Companies Act. Experience of compliance in a large company (listed or private) environment, particularly data protection, anti-trust and anti-bribery would be highly desirable.

This role is exclusively retained with Clifton Search. Any third party CV's will be forwarded to Clifton Search for consideration.
