LHH are recruiting for a great opportunity for someone who is seeking a new challenge and looking to join a company which is an established household name but also ambitious and at an exciting time in its development.
As a key member of our team, you will report directly to the General Counsel and provide legal support across the business, assess risks and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Areas of legal work
- Providing legal support to departments across the business, including Procurement, IT, Marketing, People, Sales and Operations, particularly in respect of contractual matters
- Managing the legal process across a broad variety of business initiatives
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements including supply of goods and/or services contracts, framework agreements, software agreements and terms of business
- Working cross-functionally on larger projects as well as working independently on smaller and/or strategic matters, with support from the General Counsel
- Answering ad-hoc legal queries on an array of legal matters such as customer concerns, estates disputes and advertising
- Advising on the interpretation of contracts and how to leverage strengths in disputes
- Advising on the impact of upcoming legislation on the business
- Creating solutions for the business to resolve legal and process challenges
- Ensuring compliance with the internal controls, statutory regulations and other formalities
- Assessing risks in business process and decision making
Stakeholder management
- Working cross functionally and proactively within the company to build strong collaborative internal stakeholder relationships at all levels, promoting engagement, communication and innovation
- Developing relationships with key teams in the business with the potential for the right candidate to lead legal responsibility in those areas
- Providing legal support and advice to senior management on relevant legal issues
- Up-skilling and sharing knowledge with business owners
- Ensuring that best practices are being followed in line with the governance framework in order to continually reduce risk and drive efficiency
The Successful Candidate
You will have experience of working with high value contracts and complex matters and be able to deal with a range of largely but not exclusively contractual projects. To succeed in the role, you will be motivated to drive continual improvement and work closely with a wide range of stakeholders.
- 1+ years' PQE with a corporate or commercial law background, gained at either a private practice firm, or in house;
- knowledge of a range of non-contentious contracts;
- the ability to make commercial decisions rather than simply advise on legal risks;
- a willingness to advise practically on contract disputes and contract interpretation;
- excellent written and oral communication skills with a variety of internal stakeholders;
- a naturally organised approach and the ability to multitask and prioritise workload as required;
- an enthusiastic and ambitious attitude to work and your career and a desire to achieve results; and
- strong presentation and written communication skills.
