Venture Capital Partner/Senior Associate

Our client is a fast-growing and ambitious international law firm.

Their London office is well-established and growing, and their client base spans a range of household name clients operating across a variety of sectors, including global technology businesses, insurance, financial institutions, high street retailers and across the public sector.

The firm's culture is team-oriented - successes are celebrated together. The UK firm operates as one team on one P&L and due to the businesses' innovative structure, client relationships are shared in a far more inclusive way than most firms can boast. This culture of sharing and a team ethos is what defines the firm; and they hire for cultural fit based on it.

The firm's corporate offering has been identified as an area of growth, and as the firm is particularly strong in the tech sector, they see opportunities to feed into their Private Equity relationships and develop a larger Venture Capital practice. The firm has an established and very strong pan-European venture capital practice (as well as strong regional representation); taken together there is a lot of opportunity for a Venture Capital Partner or ambitious Senior Associate.

In order to be considered for this opportunity, if you are an established VC Partner you'll have a solid practice focused primarily on Venture Capital which speaks to your ability to win work and your client's faith in you.

If you are a Senior Associate the firm will be looking for evidence of ability to win work and grow client relationships, rather than an existing book of portable business. They'll be looking to your attitude and fit with the firm, and a willingness to plug into a generous network to build a case for partnership. If you're a hungry VC Senior Associate who feels stalled behind a bottleneck at your current firm, this could be the opportunity for you.

Either way, you will almost certainly currently be an accomplished corporate lawyer with solid training and firm pedigree, who understands all stages of the corporate transaction lifecycle. You'll know how to win business, and know how to attract and develop client relationships.

Client synergies with the technology, retail, financial services, insurance, transport, and public sectors would fit naturally into the firm's current sector strengths, but there would be room for discussion if your practice comprises other sectors as well.

If you're an established Partner you might be standalone with your own VC practice, but if you came as part of team with additional Partners (whether VC or other aspects of Corporate work) and/or one or more Associates that would also be of interest given growth plans.
