Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial/Insurance

Our client, a leading insurance underwriter with a presence across EMEA, seeks a lawyer to assist in a build-out phase over the coming 3-5 years which will help take the business to the next stage of its evolution.

Working with and reporting to the GC, you will become a key member of his team and leading advisor to the GC and internal clients alike. 

The role has several strands, all of which broadly in the commercial agreements space.  These include central commercial contracts and tech-driven aspects of the business as well as insurance-driven contracts including distribution, affinity partnerships, Binders, terms of service and other insurance and non-insurance related contracts.  You will be highly visible with both underwriting teams and the c-suite.

The successful candidate will bring 5-10 years’ PQE gained in part in an insurance environment, whether with a commercial team at a law firm with a significant insurance client base or within an in-house role in the sector.  Some exposure to insurance distribution, affinity or similar is preferred but not essential.  Candidates will ideally have some exposure to working in the broader financial services space.

An ideal role for those seeking to build experience ahead of gaining a GC role.  The role would allow you to gain broad based and interesting experience across the business and to learn by osmosis how the GC runs the function.
