Derivatives Lawyer (1+ yrs. PQE) for Reputable and Growing Global Investment Bank (WFH/London)

We are partnering with a reputable, global investment bank which is performing very well and is in growth mode. Within this institution, one of the most rapidly developing and successful areas is the Quantitative Investment Solutions group, who are now looking for a junior/mid-level lawyer with a background in derivatives to join their team. The successful candidate will join a market-leading business and provide legal support on a wide range of subjects, which will encompass:

• The creation of new indices for the bank, from the embryonic stages of product development through to the creation and drafting of documentation, to bolster the strength of the index platform;
• Close collaboration with structuring teams to understand complex methodologies and draft rulebooks for indices across the full range of derivative asset classes;
• Advising on global regulatory developments which directly affect product development, especially with regards to ESG;
• Ad-hoc support to the wider derivatives team who work across the full deal life cycle on equity, fund, OTC and hybrid derivative transactions;

In terms of skill set, the successful candidate will:

• Have 2+ years PQE, with solid derivatives experience (we are open to lawyers with a credit, equity or broader derivatives skill set);
• Potentially have proprietary indices experience, but it is by no means a pre-requisite as the team are well-versed and prepared to train the successful candidate on indices work.
• Have a desire to engage with very technical work, and the mathematical ability to understand strategies the quants are creating, and be able to challenge them from a written and formulaic standpoint.
• Likely hail from one of the top City law firms, or from a relevant team within another in-house financial services organisation; Be familiar with the regulations affecting this arena (e.g. Benchmark Regulations and MAR);

The successful candidate will form part of a small and highly regarded sub-team of lawyers which form part of the wider derivatives legal team who, in turn, support a cutting-edge business team, which are really at the forefront of innovation in this area of the market.
