Legal Counsel (3+PQE) - Corporate

Our client is a leading algorithmic trader and asset manager who have shown an impressive robustness of profitability through covid and the subsequent uptick and through up and down trending markets alike.

An internal opportunity for one of their lawyers combined with a leaver have led to the creation of this new role within the team reporting to the Head of Corporate Legal. Corporate legal deals with a range of transactional corporate and governance matters both relating to funds and investment transactions and otherwise.

Working closely with two other lawyers in the team as well as with two fund launch specialists, you will advise on a range of topics and agreements to include JVAs, articles, shareholder agreements, board resolutions and fund sub-vehicles as well as contributing to the structuring of some new investment funds.

The presence of two relatively senior lawyers in each of corporate and funds means they seek a relatively junior lawyer and yet the autonomy afforded to lawyers in the department is such that this individual will need to be self-motivated, take responsibility for their own workload and will be keen to analyse existing arrangements and processes and identify legal risk.

An ideal opportunity for a lawyer who has gained 3+ years’ PQE in a corporate role. Any exposure to funds or fund investments would also be useful but inessential. Career prospects abound for those with a niche in asset management and a mainstream corporate focus and background so this role will set the right individual up for rapid progress and marketability into an ultimate GC Role.

In addition to providing top of the line work, the business is highly flexible, allowing lawyers to work reasonable hours (typically 8:30-6), to work from home 2 days a week and to work closely with PMs, lawyers and executives from their international network of offices.

Strikes an ideal balance between a smaller business with greater autonomy and knowledge of the business on offer and a larger business providing access to support from senior lawyers. An ideal role for those who back themselves to progress rapidly within the segment.
