The Department
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly ranked leading IP, IT & Commercial team of over 20 lawyers. The team's practice covers a broad spread of commercial, data protection, IT and IP work, including all types of commercial contracts, both B2B and B2C; collaboration agreements; e-commerce documents; IP licences; software contracts; advisory work especially regarding UK GDPR compliance. Clients range from small and medium sized businesses to larger PLCs, in a broad range of industry sectors, such as tech, manufacturing, publishing, education and retail. Much of the work is international in nature. The award winning life sciences practice provides extensive legal, scientific and industry specific insights to its medical device, pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. The team has a substantial international trade mark practice, managing the portfolios of major brand owners from leading fashion brands, to publishers, to entrepreneurs. The team's understanding of IT contracts goes significantly beyond the drafting and negotiation of legal terms and conditions, and they offer many years of experience 'under the bonnet' of project negotiations and strategy. Summary of role
The team is looking to hire an Associate around 2-5 years' PQE to assist the partners with an exciting caseload of non-contentious work, in particular drafting and amending commercial contracts and data protection documents and advising on UK GDPR compliance. Duties include:

• To deliver a high quality commercial legal service ensuring personal compliance with quality standards and professional ethics.
• To contribute to the team's strategy by actively participating in marketing and business development activities.
• To provide a profitable contribution to the team.
• To contribute to the successful development of the firm in line with the business plan and firm's commonality of purpose.
