Head of Compliance – Insurance sector – 12-18 mth FTC

Our client is one of the largest global life and health reinsurance companies in the world, with operations in 26 countries. It is a market leader in life and health reinsurance solutions.  An immediate and high profile need has arisen in one of the company’s subsidiaries for a Head of Compliance (SMF16 and SMF17) on a FTC basis.

The position will be supporting the CEO and CRO of the subsidiary to ensure all compliance laws and regulations are complied with.  It is an important role, acting as the second line of defence.  You will be required to ensure appropriate policies and processes are in place and embedded into the business for a range of issues including AML, financial crime, codes of conduct and relationships with the regulators. Reviewing, monitoring and ensuring best practice is key and training other members of staff will be necessary.

We are seeking a confident and senior individual with experience in the insurance sector.  Legal and/or risk and compliance experience will be considered.  Knowledge of life insurance is desirable but not a pre-requisite but you must have familiarity with compliance within the insurance sector.  You will have at least 10 years’ of relevant working experience and must have worked at a senior/managerial level. The position would suit an  senior associate or partner with an good understanding of the insurance market who is seeking to move in-house.

To fulfil this role successfully you will need to be able to build key stakeholder relationships at the Board and senior levels. You must be comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively and be able to influence your peers.  It is also important that you are effective at liaising with external bodies and the regulators.

Our client would like the role to commence as soon as possible and envisage it will be required for 12-18 months. The position will be based in London with hybrid working.  It is an excellent opportunity to work at a senior level in this high calibre business and be able to guide and influence the C-suite.
