Job Details
A reputable international intermediary and trading company, trading in a wide variety of sustainable energy products and certificates, is looking for a Legal Counsel to join the business and the extremely dynamic market they operate in, and to join their journey towards a better tomorrow. The company is a leading trader and market access provider in illiquid environmental commodities and debt capital markets. They contribute to a more transparent environmental commodities market, and therefore, a greener world.
This role involves:
- Supporting traders but also all other departments with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various (international) commercial contracts. Transactions are inherently fast-moving and complex, and require strategic thinking as well as technical, commercial and contractual experience and knowledge.
- Providing legal advice to the business on a broad range of legal matters
- Handling claims and litigations
- Liaising with and managing outside counsels
We are keen to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:
- US Law degree
- Experience in the (physical) commodities trading industry, preferably in (bio)fuels/oils
- 3+ years of experience as an in-house legal counsel in a commercial business environment or a law firm
- Proven experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating (international) commercial contracts, Incoterms, BP Oil GT&C, Fosfa, EFET
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
- International mindset, sense of intercultural understanding, open-minded
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proactive and flexible with a hands-on approach
- Fluent in both English and Spanish
