The Head of Policy will have a key role supporting UCL managing risks and facilitating compliance with the internal and external frameworks within which it operates.


The Office of General Counsel currently comprises Legal Services, Data Protection and Freedom of Information and the Governance teams and, in due course, risk and compliance functions. The Head of Policy will have a key role supporting UCL managing risks and facilitating compliance with the internal and external frameworks within which it operates.

The Head of Policy reports to the General Counsel, Natasha Lewis.

About the role

The Head of Policy will have a key role supporting UCL managing risks and facilitating compliance with the internal and external frameworks within which it operates.

As the Head of Policy, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining UCL's extensive policy portfolio across the breadth of UCL's activities, developing a consistent policy framework, implementing a policy lifecycle management process as well as supporting the development of new policy to support UCL's effective operation within the compliance landscape.

About you

For this job you'll need several years' relevant post-qualification experience at a high calibre law firm, or equivalent in-house role.

You'll have experience in developing and promulgating policy in a large and complex organisation as well as experience of operating and influencing at a senior management and board level.

You'll need to demonstrate an ability to synthesise large quantities of information and reconcile different approaches.

Experience in putting in place and managing policy lifecycle management process is desirable.

What we offer

For this job we offer a competitive salary of £80,000 to £95,000 per annum.
