In both numbers and significance, corporate tax casts a disproportionally large shadow at this US/global law firm. London is no exception with tax being central to its raison d'être. At partner level, whilst the tax team has continued to expand, through an equal mix of laterals and promotions, the law firm’s stellar European growth has periodically resulted in “tax bottle necks” – an issue the firm is keen to address, particularly as it faces looming succession issues.
The existing non-contentious tax offering is full service but considers itself particularly in need of additional firepower in funds related matters. Skill-set, rather than a book of business is required.
