Company Description Corre Energy is a leader in the development and operation of Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) projects and products that accelerate the transition to net-zero and enhance the security and flexibility of energy systems. Our current market focus is Europe with anticipated expansion into other major markets including North America. LDES projects and products unlock the value of renewables by combining hydrogen production with long duration and flexible energy storage, thereby supporting Europe’s net-zero decarbonisation goals, increasing Europe’s energy security, and facilitating the energy transition.

Corre Energy is at the forefront in the development and operation of LDES projects and products. Corre Energy has a deep knowledge of project origination, development, construction, and operation as well as corporate and project finance. The team is actively developing two LDES projects in the Netherlands and Denmark, has obtained exclusive rights to a portfolio of energy storage projects across the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany and is engaged in early-stage opportunities in North America.

 

Purpose

It’s an exciting time to be part of this sector. Corre Energy is leading the way in a new asset class within Renewables – long duration energy storage.  Our legal team is central to this and advises on a variety of energy, regulatory, project and corporate matters. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced renewable energy projects lawyer to join our dynamic legal department.

We need someone with a solid legal background who is ready to be challenged in a fast-paced, rapidly growing commercial environment and is not afraid of genuine responsibility. Responsibilities

  • Provide legal analysis and advice related to our LDES projects in Europe and North America, amongst others, on land issues, planning/permitting, regulatory, grid, offtake, construction, operation, trading, finance and M&A matters
  • Specifically for this role, we are looking for someone to commit themselves to the contracting on the two leading projects in our portfolio as they move to financial close whilst also getting exposure to the wider portfolio and project work
  • Drafting, reviewing and participating in negotiations of contracts
  • Proactively identify legal risks related to a matter and/or affecting the Corre Energy Group as a whole, and recommend measures for mitigating such risks Manage and build relationships with external lawyers
  • Analise complex legal and business situations and develop creative solutions/recommendations which meet the business and legal needs of the company
  • We’re a “flat” organisation - work closely with senior management and advise the business on project, transactional and financing Keep up with current changes on all relevant areas of law and contribute to the enhancement of the knowledge base of the Legal team Develop current contract templates

Applicant profile

  • Qualified as a lawyer in the UK, Ireland, Netherlands or Denmark with a reputable law firm with a minimum of 7  relevant years post qualification experience, ideally including a minimum of 3 years direct experience in a renewables/developer environment
  • Advanced knowledge of best practices in structuring, drafting and negotiating complex high-value transactions.  Not necessarily all of but demonstrable expertise in: multi-contracting and EPC construction matters; greenfield development; route to market solutions (PPAs, Tolling Agreements, etc); corporate/project financial; international energy M&A
  • Experience dealing with diverse project development legal issues and multi-jurisdictional commercial transactions
  • Ability to digest complex information, form a distinct point of view, and communicate it in a clear and relevant way, exercising sound judgment which balances business needs with legal risks, designed to achieve business objectives with acceptable levels of risk
  • A reliable team player with the ability to establish trusted advisor relationships and ability to forge strong working relationships with colleagues in an agile environment.
  • Builds relationships that help with the execution of duties Ability to juggle multiple projects, prioritise and work on tight deadlines.
  • Good at problem solving, analytical thinking and handling complexity under pressure
  • Have a strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills Have good commercial awareness and is client focused
