It is about 1 hour’s flight from Miami and a 12 hour flight from London.

The Senior Legal Advisor will act as in-house counsel and second in command to the Director of Legal, and will also be working closely with the Director of Compliance and other members of the Senior Management Team ("SMT") to drive and implement ongoing strategies and initiatives geared towards the mitigation of risk throughout the business globally.

This senior role represents a unique opportunity to work offshore in an in-house environment at a leading international corporate services provider that services global corporations, financial institutions, capital markets participants and investment fund managers.

Although based in the Cayman Islands, the Senior Legal Advisor role has a global remit, therefore some travel may be required.

•    Provide practical and prompt advice and assistance to company employees globally in response to day-to-day legal and risk and related queries.

•    Work with the Director of Legal to promote and maintain best practice globally, acting as a 2nd line of defence, and providing back-up and cover for all legal matters, escalations and team queries.

•    Assist with reviewing, drafting, updating and maintaining all corporate governance related documentation, including charters, terms of reference, manuals, policies, procedures and templates, as well as bulletins and other internal communications, whether standalone or contributing to others' deliverables.

•    Assist with the management and preparation of all legal and regulatory proceedings relating to the company globally, including the engagement of and working alongside external legal counsel where required.

•    Assist with the RFP, risk assessment, engagement and on-boarding of and collaboration with the company's various outsource providers and other third party vendors.

•    Provide clear, commercial and succinct recommendations to the Director of Legal, CEO, CFO, SMT and various Boards of Directors throughout the global network.

Education, Experience and Skills

•    Qualification as an attorney with a minimum of 6 years PQE.

•    Experience in-house (whether full time or on secondment) preferred, but not essential

•    Proven experience of risk management and remediation.

•    Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and finance structures in various offshore jurisdictions.

•    Excellent drafting and communication skills.

•    Strong research, analytical skills and attention to detail.

•    Self-motivated with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

The company offers a dynamic working environment with opportunities for career progression and an excellent remuneration package, including a discretionary performance based bonus, pension and fully covered health insurance for employees and 26 days' vacation. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications but around US$180,000 to 200,000.
