Group Head of Legal Job - Hungerford - Global Business

Our client is a global organisation who have a track record of delivering enviable growth both in the UK and globally, with operating divisions in EMEA, USA and Australia as well as the UK and Ireland. They currently have an excellent opportunity for a Group Head of Legal Services to join them. This is an autonomous, full-time role as leader of the group's legal team, which is responsible for the management of legal risk across the whole business. Our client pride themselves on their culture, and are operating a hybrid working policy, however given that this is a senior role with lots of stakeholder interaction, they would look for you to be in their offices in Hungerford 2-3 days per week. This presents as a rare Head of Legal opportunity to join a growing business with ambitious growth plans where you can really shape and develop the legal function.

Your new role
You will be responsible for management and leadership of the legal team, provide legal advice to the Group's board and executive team, and will be responsible for the Group's legal risk strategy. You will provide legal advice and services to stakeholders across the global business on a wide range of legal issues including all aspects of commercial contracts (sale and purchase), data protection, property and corporate structure. You will also be preparing and advising on Group internal governance, policies and procedures and monitor compliance as required, and collaborate with all levels of employees to solve problems, provide straightforward actionable and implementable advice regarding legal and business issues. As part of your role you will assist in the management of Supplier and Customer relationships, including advising on and negotiating terms, and helping to find legal and commercial solutions to issues where necessary, evaluating and advising on risk factors regarding Group critical activities. You will act as the first port of call for any disputes and manage relationships with external Counsel.

About you
You will have strong commercial skills and will be pragmatic and decisive, with plenty of common sense! Our client is looking for either a solicitor or a barrister with 8+ years post qualification experience in commercial contracts, data protection, IT contracts and compliance. Ideally, you will have direct experience in a Software/IT Services sector based business, however general commercial experience gained within the wider technology sector will also be considered. Experience of working for a business in the US/EMEA regions, as well as the UK, would also be welcomed. You will have the ability to think on your feet, liaise with senior stakeholders, and produce and present high quality material for use throughout the Group, including material for the Group Executive Board.
