We are working with the world's largest book publisher. It is a much loved and respected brand and the home to brilliant books across generations. The business culture is creative, inclusive, collegiate and celebrates storytellers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, inventors and explorers.

The Technology division has an ambitious strategy to further enable the organisation to bring amazing voices to all. This involves harnessing the power of the Cloud, SaaS, a constantly evolving data security stance, the rejuvenation of legacy apps, digital marketing and e-commerce. Technology now plays a crucial role in bringing books and content to wider audiences.

The legal team works collaboratively to manage legal and commercial risk. You will report to the Senior Commercial Lawyer and be a critical point of contact to Tech, digital marketing and data stakeholders. You will work primarily with the Procurement, Technology and other teams on technology, data and digital marketing contracts, licensing etc and on strategic initiatives beyond that.

We are looking for lawyers with:

• Solid experience in key areas of commercial technology law, documents and principles.
• Good contract drafting and negotiation skills.
• Diligence and good attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to ensure that advice is conveyed effectively to a range of different people.
• Good ability to work autonomously and as part of the legal and wider business team.
• The ability to multi-task, prioritise and be flexible to changing priorities and demonstrate good organisational and analytical skills.
• A qualification of c. 4-5 years PQE or equivalent.

The legal team is based in London while the tech team is in Essex, so flexibility about where you work/remote working comes as standard and the team are open to discussing this through the recruitment process.
