Top Tier, global law firm is actively seeking to recruit a General Counsel & Risk Solicitor due to continued expansion.

The Team

The GC & Risk team comprises over 50 lawyers and other team members. It acts as the internal legal function of the Firm, overseeing regulatory compliance in the jurisdictions in which the Firm operates and supporting the Firm in managing legal risk in the work it undertakes.
The team has a number of sub-teams that handle claims and complaints, oversee negotiation of the Firm's professional indemnity and other insurances, manage conflicts, investigate and assess financial crime and sanctions risk in potential client relationships and counterparties to work the Firm is asked to undertake, negotiate key supplier contracts for the Firm and the terms that govern key client relationships. The team is involved in the Firm's strategic activity.

The Role

This role is a new role, specifically to support the Firm's offices outside of the UK.

Working closely with the Firm's General Counsel (GC) and the Deputy General Counsel (DGC), you will play a key role in leading development of the relationship between the GC & Risk team and the people working in the Firm's offices outside of the UK. You will act as the liaison or connection between the non-UK offices and the specialist teams within the GC & Risk team, in the course of day-to-day work for clients and supporting the recruitment of further lawyers into our overseas offices. There will also be involvement in future strategic expansion of the Firm.


The Candidate

You will have significant experience as In House Counsel specialising in risk and compliance issues in a law firm with offices outside of the UK (it is not necessary to have experience in each of the jurisdictions in which the Firm currently operates, although experience in more than one such jurisdiction would be an advantage).
