Job Details
Despite the Covid induced double-dip recession, thanks to government largess pumping unsustainable amounts of cash into the economy, the much-anticipated tsunami of restructuring and insolvency instructions have yet to materialise at most law firms. Not so at this US law firm whose London office has managed to score a significant coupe through its contentious restructuring team which, in 2020, won a globally significant marquee matter; in addition to producing significant ongoing work in London, the restructuring team has successfully been able to export this (in the form of $multi-million fees) to the US.
Despite having a leading restructuring team in the US, the existing London restructuring offering is bonsai and focused almost entirely on contentious matters. Whilst able to “get by” in non-contentious restructuring, it has periodically faced capacity crunches and, due to this, has not followed up on some “open goal” referrals from both the London office and US restructuring team.
In view of the above, even without the inevitable pending uptick in European restructuring matters, the law firm is keen to plug this lacuna with the hire a non-contentious restructuring lateral able to both convert existing leads and win new matters in what promises to be an interesting market in 2021.
