Job Details
Our client is a leading US investment manager with a specialism in alternatives, particularly with a real estate PE element. With a stable of funds including large, complex pooled products as well as smaller private funds and LLP JV co-investment vehicles, they have built their EMEA business over the past six years and have a Legal Department of 6 lawyers in London and 2 in Luxembourg. Their General Counsel is also an experienced Funds Lawyer and has, until now, done a lot of fund launch work personally. The GC has gained considerable wider responsibility which has necessitated hiring a separate funds lawyer in New York and they now need to replicate this coverage in London with the hire of a lawyer of 2-4 years’ PQE with a significant fund launch background, ideally to include some pooled funds work.
Working closely with the GC at first instance, you will structure and document new fund launches, advising portfolio managers on legal aspects of fund launch and helping them through the entire launch process. This is an opportunity to work on some cutting edge products in a collegiate environment in a business which manages the rare feat of being a big brand US business whilst also having an employer brand which has seen the vast majority of the client’s external counsel viewing them as a favourite client or desired future employer.
A funds lawyer with 2-4 years’ PQE, you will have worked on pooled products and will have the confidence to work alone or as part of a team and to interface closely with the business.
