[Senior] Legal Counsel – Commercial Contracts (2+PQE)

An unusually front line role for a TMT lawyer or commercial contracts lawyer, ideally with exposure to at least some of data licensing, data privacy, outsourcing, technology licensing and general commercial contract matters.  The role itself will be still broader, taking point on more generalist subject matter in the commercial contracts/TMT space whilst also playing a role in advising the trading business on regulatory and FS specific documentation matters such as exchange memberships, custody agreements and regulatory advice around short selling restrictions, MiFID II and other regulation.

The successful candidate is likely to have some general FS sector experience but need not have worked in a hedge fund historically (notwithstanding that a lawyer from a hedge fund would be an ideal solution) and you may have worked in banking, insurance or any other sub-segment of FS.  No financial services specific experience is required and you will be given training on the job for the more trading oriented aspects of the role from a specialist, in turn providing them with support on the learning curve around TMT and commercial work.

A great techy environment founded on the principle of treating employees as their key asset.  Thus, hours are far and away better than a law firm, flexibility is high, the office is laid back and replete with free breakfasts and lunches and breakout areas for discussions and yet work is cutting-edge.  Compensation will also be market-leading, with packages up to £300,000 and base salary to £150k depending upon experience.  The PQE guideline is very broad (2-10) but, whatever level you are currently at, compensation will be in the upper quartile for that level.
