We are Two Circles, the four-time Sport Industry Agency of the Year, and we are a sports marketing and data technology company.

We work with over 150 sports properties, including the Premier League, NFL, ECB, F1, UEFA and Wimbledon. Working as an extension their commercial teams, we help them grow direct relationships with fans to drive business growth.

Data is at the centre of our approach. It starts with helping clients to get a better understanding of their customers, and deliver insights that influence top-level decision-making. From there, we develop and integrate data technology solutions that harness the latest in data visualisation and machine-learning, and provide digital marketing and rights-sales services that grow revenue across ticketing, premium, sponsorship and media.

We currently have a growing team of over 350 Two Circlers based across Europe and North America.

Our Legal Team plays a key role in this fast-paced, entrepreneurial organisation at the heart of the sports industry, enabling the business across all clients, teams and geographies.  This hire of a Legal Counsel (Privacy & Tech) is a new, additional role that provides significant scope for career growth and personal development, with every day providing new opportunities to have a direct impact on cutting-edge sports and technology matters and be a key stakeholder in the continuing growth of Two Circles.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role will require the candidate to be responsible for:

• being the go-to adviser for all legal aspects of privacy, data protection and information security matters across the business
• continually improving, developing and updating policies, procedures and tools relating to privacy, data protection and information security (together with Two Circles’ Infosec and Operations teams and other internal stakeholders)
• reviewing and implementing compliance and processes relating to privacy and data protection to ensure best-in-class working practices
• maintaining a broad expertise in privacy and data protection law, including delivering and developing educational materials and training for the wider business
• taking a lead legal role collaborating with Two Circles’ Technology team throughout the product development process, to enable and protect our proprietary technology
• drafting and negotiating technology-related contracts (including with suppliers, clients and other third parties) and advising on complex product-related matters
• developing innovative use of legal tech throughout our commercial operations
• responsibilities for other duties consistent with the role (including managing external counsel appropriately)

Experience:

• demonstrable practical experience of solving complex legal issues relating to privacy, data protection and technology
• 2+ PQE of relevant legal experience either in-house or private practice (applications outside of this PQE range may also be considered)
• qualified to practice law in England and Wales (having trained and qualified at a leading City or international firm)

Desirable skills:

• previous sports law experience is not compulsory, but a passion for sport, strong understanding of the business of sport, and a real ambition to build a long-term career within the industry are
• experience working in or advising high-growth technology companies and a desire to take a hands-on approach for developing the business from within
• understanding of digital marketing laws/regulations, digital marketing technologies and advertising industries
• experience of IP issues or corporate/M&A would be beneficial
