About the Company
This biotech business is dedicated to diseases specific to the central nervous system and produces drugs which are relied on by people who are suffering. The company is on a path to commercialise new products throughout Europe for currently unmet needs. As a result, the business is scaling quickly and is now looking to appoint its first lawyer.
The Opportunity
This is a highly unique and exciting opportunity to join a biotech at an early stage, both contributing to the growth and direction of the business as well as building a legal function for the business. As Director of Legal Affairs, you will lead on a wide range of negotiations and collaborations including licensing matters, partnership arrangements and collaboration agreements. You will work closely with the CEO and CEO, providing key commercial advice on legal, risk and compliance. You will be part of the core of the business, attending Board meetings and managing the company secretarial function. You will establish best practice frameworks for legal and compliance and you will support M&A activity.
About You
The opportunity will suit a commercially-minded pharmaceutical lawyer who, as the first lawyer for the business, is interested in being part of the fabric of a biotech as it looks to scale and add products to its portfolio, in turn making headway in the treatment of challenging diseases. The position will suit an individual looking for an alternative to “big pharma” who has a broad skill-set within the life sciences sector. You may already be an in-house lawyer in a pharmaceutical or life sciences business looking to take a step up, or you might be a corporate/commercial lawyer in private practice acting for life sciences companies looking to move in-house. You will need to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment as well as the ability to lead a business on a wide variety of matters.
