Commercial Solicitor

The role is to work directly for companies, very much as an in-house lawyer, but with the support of an award-winning law firm with all of the resource, training and support that this offers. The role is to be based in Leeds City Centre, but there is significant flexibility to split your time between home and the office. This is a relatively new team and there is lots of opportunity for progression and growth.

The team will often take ownership of either the entire legal work of clients, or specific parts of it, taking on work that was previously handled in-house. The role is essentially to work as in-house lawyer but on behalf of one or two large clients at any point in time, offering the opportunity to work across sectors but focusing largely on commercial contracts. Work will include providing high quality legal advice, mitigating commercial and legal risk and really integrating yourself into the client, their sector and their commercial imperatives. The firm provides a really innovative solution to some of the world's highest profile companies and there is a huge emphasis on process efficiency - the team is at the cutting edge of legal technology, working with things such as AI in contract reviews.

You will have the support of a global firm, really allowing you to drive your career forward at the highest level and surrounded by some of the brightest minds. There's no time recording, no chargeable targets and the option to get involved in business development but no requirement to do so, it's all about doing a great job for the company and getting to know them well. You will be fully supported by non-legal specialists across a number of sectors including IT and project management to deliver highly innovative solutions.

The firm is ideally looking for someone at either Associate or Senior Associate level (or on the cusp of it) so PQE is very open from c. 2-8 years. This is given purely as a guideline and candidates who fall outside of this bracket will be considered. Whilst not critical it would be ideal if you have some in house experience. Candidates must have excellent communication skills with the ability to develop relationships with people at all levels both internally and externally. They really want someone who is enthusiastic and pro-active, with a real interest to learn and a fantastic work ethic
