Senior Charity Law Solicitor

A leading firm in the North of England is looking for a senior charity law solicitor to join its Manchester office.

This respected law firm is known for its leading charity legal practice and acts for the country's largest charities, academics and social housing sectors, not for profits, CICs and enterprises. The firm's long-standing client base has meant the firm is incredibly well connected and so the firm encourages its staff to use its position in the market to support local voluntary organisations and build a network of contacts in the community.

You will take over from the firm's senior partner who will be able to ensure the smooth transition of existing clients and connections. This is an important hire for the firm and the successful charity law solicitor will be fully supported by executives and offered the opportunity to take ownership and progress.

The role will focus on the commercial and governance aspects of charity law. This includes establishing and incorporating charities, advising on the disposal of land and release of the prohibition on expending proceeds for a religious charity, advising on the exploitation of a charity's substantial archive, advising charitable foundations established by larger businesses, advising on serious incidents, writing off of intragroup balances, transfers of businesses and activities to charities and non-charities.

The charity law solicitor will work closely with the firm's employment, property and trust lawyers where necessary to collaborate and develop the team's charity client base and offer the best full-ranging service possible. This cross-departmental function is one of many initiatives that help cultivate a close-knit and friendly working culture that is admired across the industry.
