Legal Counsel (Commercial 1-4 PQE) - Retail

The Role

Reviewing, negotiating, drafting and advising on a wide range of supplier and business contracts for all areas of the business including: commercial, supply chain, concessions, events, e-sports, marketing and sponsorship, ecommerce, franchising and licencing, IT & technology, outsourcing and finance.

Travel to the London office will be involved.

Key Responsibilities

• Dealing with ad hoc queries relating to the application of consumer protection regulations to the group’s new and existing product and service offerings, carrying out required updates to consumer facing terms and conditions.
• Dealing with commercial disputes and litigation (with the support of external advisors where appropriate).
• Providing guidance on marketing and promotional activity including CAP code compliance for advertisements, promotions competitions and product packaging, and drafting associated T&Cs for promotions, prize draws and competitions.
• Supporting e-commerce team on legal aspects of digital marketing and website operations.
• Wholesale contracts and concession agreements with suppliers.
• General IP work including licencing of own brands and third-party licencing.
• Assist on larger M&A work as required, or coordinate smaller transactions including conducting due diligence investigations, drafting SPA/APAs and ancillary documents and post-completion support.
• Liaising with enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies such as the ICO, ASA and Trading Standards in relation to regulatory issues and customer complaints.
