Job Details
Our client, a global mining company, is looking for a legal counsel to manage legal risks in relation to regulatory law, with a specific focus on safety, permitting and environmental law. The role will be based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire (2 days in office).
The Role
Working on our clients unique UK project, you will provide regulatory advice and support on permitting, safety and environmental matters.
Responsibilities for this role include:
* The submission and execution of applications for relevant permits and licences.
* Providing support in defining proposals for and implementation of systems, procedures, and strategies for managing legal risks,
* Training internal stakeholders in assessment of and decision-making in relation to legal risk in permitting, safety and environmental issues
You will work with internal clients, including senior management across several business units, as well as external planning authorities, the Environment Agency and the Health and Safety Executive
The Person
This role will suit a lawyer with 3+ years post-qualification experience in safety or permitting and environmental law. The ideal candidate needs to be capable of building and managing relationships, both internally and externally, drafting and presenting reports on legal matters to all levels of the business, and managing external legal service providers, including a demonstrable ability to have difficult conversations with these providers. You will also have the ability to manage a practice, ideally an in-house practice, including attending to administrative tasks in relation thereto.
In addition, you will need to hold a UK drivers license and have good proficiency in Microsoft Office.
On offer is a very competitive salary, plus an extensive benefits package including a £6,820 car allowance, 20-40% annual bonus, 13% pension contribution for 4%, and medical cover.
