IP Lawyer - Large Giga project - Saudi Arabia - Amazing tax free salary ++ on offer - 4-10years pqe

Our client is one of the biggest Giga projects in Saudi Arabia, They are looking for a robust IP Lawyer to  detect, assess, manage and resolve their IP issues to meet business, IP risk management, asset protection, and exploitation objectives, cost-effectively at pace. This is a stellar role for a 4 to 10 year pqe IP lawyer from a top international law firm and or top in-house legal team. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

• Quickly detect and analyse IP issues and risks in all areas of their operations:
• TM, Patent, Copyright, Knowhow, and other IP use and registration
• Procurement and contracts
• M&A, JV and VC projects
• Licensing – in and out
• Technical and creative Projects
• Online activities

• Recognise risks that require immediate escalation and act on them
• Report issue and risk in concise and effective terms to the Legal stakeholder(s)
• Maintain a running prioritized system to record issues, risks, actions, and resolutions for tracking and audit purposes
• Propose solutions to problems and mitigation strategies to risks, and implement them
•    

   

  • Utilise experience to:
  • Devise cost effective and timely TM clearance search and filing programmes
  • Advise on and coordinate TM protection with DN and SM asset procurement
  • Advise business on best practice in dealing with know how, confidential information, innovations and inventions in the circumstances of their fast-paced activities
  • Take a concept or innovation from birth, through assessment for inventiveness, business, commercial and portfolio value, through consideration of protection as know how, confidential information and patenting, to development of a patent application(s) with external service providers, prosecution, enforcement and litigation
  • Advise their internal functions including Branding, Sectors, Subsidiaries and Project Leads on IP protection matters
  • Coordinate IP protection with relevant operations including Cybersecurity, Data Protection and others as needed
     

   

  • Work with the organizations Legal Head of IP to design and “build” effective, light-touch, agile and fast processes to use internal and external resources efficiently in supporting business initiatives
  • Understand weaknesses in current IP systems or processes, and propose and implement solutions
  • Work with key business contacts to ensure processed are flexed as needed to achieve business goals without sacrificing rigour and accountability
     

   

  • Act as a key strategic business partner across all of their Sectors, Regions, and Functions whilst managing tensions between commercial decision making and providing necessary legal advice
  • Ensure external counsel are utilised so as to obtain maximum benefit and focused business support
  • Come up with pragmatic and practical legal solutions to business issues where possible
  • Provide accurate, but business-comprehensible and commercial IP advice
   

  BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

   

   

  • 4-15 plus years of senior operational experience in a top 10 law firm or complex business environment, working at a level of owning responsibility for key IP and IP-related matters.

   

  • Proven experience across the entire spectrum of IP issues relevant to a fast-growing, technical and creative organization including ideally all of patents, trade marks, copyright, knowhow, confidential information, licensing in and out, disputes and litigation, domain names, social media and cybersecurity, in mergers, acquisitions, JV and VC projects, in particular in the areas of technological development in digital, IT and AI R&D, energy (solar, wind, green hydrogen) and water (desalination, brine mining), AR and VR, construction and sea, land and air mobility.
   

   

  • Strong commercial acumen demonstrated while serving as a trusted confidante and advisor to CEO and executive team level.
   

   

  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to simultaneously manage a wide number of different IP matters of all complexity directly and whilst using external counsel cost-effectively.
   

   

  • A creative, agile and diplomatic approach to fast-moving workplace challenges and a wide variety of personality types, with the ability to set the boundaries clearly when necessary.
