Job Details

An exciting opportunity for a talented lawyer with an interest in renewable power to join the UK Trading & Shipping (T&S) team of one of the world's 'supermajor' energy companies as they continue their transition from traditional sources of power into renewable and low carbon energy sources. Renewable power, biogas and low carbon products are central to the business's new strategy and net carbon ambitions and as such the dedicated legal team is experiencing ever increasing demands for its services.

Reporting to the Managing Counsel for the Gas, Power & Low Carbon Trading team, you will provide vital legal support for all aspects of T&S's European renewable power trading and origination businesses, including advising on power purchase agreements as well as power supply and trading contracts for projects and markets across Europe. In this varied role you will also be encouraged to shape the role depending on your interests with opportunities to get involved with natural gas, low carbon and biogas matters as well as assist on M&A activity, including equity investments and joint ventures.

Ideally, you will be 4-7 PQE with strong post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm and/or as an in-house counsel (working in the power industry). Experience of the power markets and contracts is essential for the role, together with an interest in working in the low carbon or natural gas/bio-gas areas, for which no prior experience is required. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player that is confident working closely with originators, traders and various internal business functions as well as being comfortable working on global matters across various different cultures.

This role will be hugely rewarding, providing you the chance to gain hands-on involvement in leading on critical global matters at the forefront of the worlds ambitions to reach net-zero. A great opportunity to further your in-house legal career, if this role sounds of interest to you, please get in touch ASAP.

Please note our advertisements use PQE/salary levels purely as a guide. However we are happy to consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary to fulfil the role.

Please note that your personal information will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
