Legal Counsel

A leading global FMCG group is seeking an experienced IP & commercial lawyer to join their team.

This role will provide support at a global level, with particular emphasis on operations, supply chain and procurement. They are investing significantly in research and development into innovative new products and technologies, so there is plenty of exciting and varied work to be involved with as well as progression opportunities within the group.

Reporting to the Head of Legal, key responsibilities will include:

• Providing commercial legal advice across the business, particularly focusing on operations and procurement;

• Drafting and negotiating on a broad range of commercial agreements including technology development agreements, licensing agreements, partnership agreements, manufacturing and supply agreements;

• Identifying and mitigating legal risks relating to IP, data protection, tax, competition and compliance;

• Providing advice relating to disputes;

• Providing legal advice regarding company policies and processes;

• Managing external legal counsel

Skills & experience required:

• UK or Commonwealth qualified solicitor with a minimum of 4 PQE (although all candidates will be considered on merit);

• Experience from a top law firm or in-house experience from a well-established organisation;

• Intellectual property experience (including patents/technology licensing) is essential;

• Demonstrated experience of advising on complex and high-value global frameworks and cross-border transactions;

• Strong experience in commercial contract drafting and negotiation;

• Mandarin language skills and/or experience working within Chinese markets would be beneficial;

• Excellent inter-personal, communication and teamwork skills;

• Flexible attitude and ability to multi-task and prioritise under pressure;

• Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
