Commercial Sports Associate - 2-5PQE

Pure Search are instructed on an exciting and rare opportunity with one of the leading sports law practices in London.

The Company:

Our client is a leading City law firm with an outstanding reputation across commercial, which encompasses the sports-specific sector group. The team provide a full service offering across sports, working with sports clubs, governing bodies, rights holders, sports agencies, investors and professional athletes.

The team have typically built their reputation on working across a range of event management, commercial rights deals, football club takeovers, corporate governance and regulatory matters, working with high stakes household name sports and sports tech clients on a global scale.

The Role:

Reporting into the Head of Sport, you will work with a diverse range of clients from start-up businesses to major listed companies across a range of commercial sports matters.

The work will include but not be limited to:

• Sponsorship and partnership rights matters
• International sports club takeovers
• Drafting contracts for player transfers and major professional sporting events
• Advising on sports rules and regulations of some of the UK's major sporting competitions
• All forms of digital rights exploitation within sport
• Data protection and soft IP advisory work for sports clubs, players and influencers

The ambit of the role is incredibly broad and will expose you to a range of international sports including football, cricket, athletics, baseball, basketball, golf, Formula 1 and NFL.

About You:

You will be a qualified solicitor with between 2-5 years post-qualification experience in either a broad commercial role or a commercial sports position. You should have gained broad exposure to IP, commercial contracts and technology, whilst exposure to corporate matters and sports/eSports would also be hugely beneficial. You will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to commercial law and a clear and defined interest in sports law. It would also be beneficial to have previous business development experience, with a strong desire to grow a network within the sports arena.
