Sole Counsel / Head of Legal

THE BUSINESS

A fast growing technology led business, Yorkshire based, seeking to hire it's first in house legal counsel. 'Market disruptive' and leading the way in the industry, with strong financial backing.


THE ROLE

As their first in house legal counsel you'll be tasked with building a legal function from scratch, identifying and addressing issues of importance from a legal and commercial perspective.

Your key responsibilities will be to provide expert and strategic legal advice to senior management and manage legal risk and compliance within the business. This might include customer and supplier contract negotiations, regulatory matters, and intellectual property rights. You'll also be managing external lawyers and legal budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, drafting codes of conduct, and facilitating corporate mergers. It's an extensive remit, and an exciting time to join the business.


ABOUT YOU

As this is a highly entrepreneurial environment, you must be comfortable with a fast paced business, adapting to new challenges daily. Your communication skills will be exceptional, across all levels of the business. You'll be best suited to this role if you have worked in an established commercial law firm, and also have previous experience in house. It is anticipated you'll need at least 5 years experience to have gained the skills to undertake this role effectively.
