Prime Brokerage Lawyer (4+ yrs.) for Global Investment Bank, Central London

Our client is a leading bank (corporate and institutional banking) in Europe with an international reach. Over the past couple of years the success, size and reputation of the prime brokerage team has grown and in line with this, we are now looking for a lawyer with sound prime brokerage experience to join the London legal team.

The successful candidate will occupy a visible, pro-active role within an established team of lawyers and will:

• Assist with product development matters, namely the inception, execution and onward ‘commoditisation’ of new, bespoke transactions/services to the bank’s growing client base;
• Advise on the interpretation and implementation of new regulatory initiatives;
• Negotiate a suite of prime brokerage documentation and deal with securities lending and repo matters;
• Provide advice and assistance to more junior members of the team when required.

You will form part of a highly regarded legal team that the business looks to for commercially minded solutions, not just technical advice, so you must be a lawyer with sound commercial acumen and be adept at relaying your advice to non-lawyers. As such, you will likely hail from a relevant in-house legal team or be in private practice with in-house experience from a secondment. Either way, you must:

• Be a UK or Commonwealth qualified lawyer, with at least 5 years’ relevant experience;
• Have sound prime brokerage experience, both from a documentation and regulatory standpoint;
• Have the maturity and confidence to work autonomously when needed and can manage the legal aspects of complex transactions from the outset.
