Senior Legal Counsel

THE COMPANY

Our client is a fast paced international business, and a real Yorkshire success story. The company has grown rapidly in recent years and has a turnover in the bilions. The current in-house legal team is integral to the success of the business, and is growing both in size and importance. The General Counsel is now seeking to hire an additional senior legal counsel to join the department and take on a commercially focused role.

THE ROLE

As Senior Legal Counsel the main remit of this position will focus on a range of high value general commercial contracts, often with an international flavour. These might be IT contracts, IP matters marketing issues, data protection and regulatory work but could additionally include major projects, corporate activity and strategic initiatives on an ad hoc basis.


ABOUT YOU

You'll probably need at least 4-5 years' pqe to have gained the experience needed in such a demanding and varied role. You will be a lawyer with a track record in 'business law' environment (be that from a contracts, corporate, projects, or litigation background ) ideally gained at a major commercial law firm or well respected in house team You'll need first rate technical legal skills, as well as the softer communication skills that are so essential in such a visible client facing role working closely with the senior management. The key criteria for this role are to be pragmatic and commercially minded, and to be comfortable in a fast moving and dynamic business.
