The Department

Our Healthcare team is a vibrant specialist department. We provide advice on all aspects of healthcare law, including clinical negligence, personal injury, patient safety, human rights and mental health. The ethos of the team is to work hard for our clients so that we secure the right outcome for them. In so doing we improve our technical skills and enhance our ability to meet the clients’ needs as they evolve. The healthcare sector is fast moving and the challenge of working for our clients provides very interesting work.

The role

We are currently recruiting across all of our locations for Solicitor, Associate and Principle Associate level. We pride ourselves on having excellent development opportunities for progression alongside a flexible working culture. We are looking for NHS Resolution experienced talent to increase our offering across all aspects of healthcare law.

Flexible location

To manage a caseload of pre and post litigated clinical negligence matters on behalf of NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts and GPs. 

Main duties and responsibilities

.         Review cases upon allocation and report and thereafter conduct case in accordance with internal and client SLAs and KPIs

·         Assist others with their cases and database/MI tasks

·         Supervision of junior team members

·         Undertake client secondments as required

·         Complete client MI procedures/databases

·         Achieve set financial and chargeable hours targets

·         Deal with own hearings

·         Attend NHS Trusts to seek witness statements

·         Ensure relevant deadlines, quality measures and KIPS are adhered to

·         Comply with relevant policies and procedures

·         Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values

The person specification

·         Must have previous NHS Resolution clinical defendant experience

.         Experience of providing other Healthcare related advice would also be preferred

·         Knowledge of CPR procedure with proven technical ability

·         Ability to work to strict deadlines and timescales

·         Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
