Job Details
The London corporate team of this ambitious law firm needs to grow. Across the network, the seventeen partner corporate practice accounts for almost 20% of the firm’s total revenues. There is a clearly defined mid-market strategy and the team has very focused ambitions. The lawyers have been very successful building a profitable and client friendly practice, with innovative rates and a now well developed structure which yields higher profit margins without crazy hours or unhappy clients! 2020 has been a challenging corporate climate but the team has risen to the task. The culture is surprisingly closer than ever and with continued innovation and an increase in cross-border deal volume means the year will be a decent one.. With many of the firm’s private equity clients now looking towards mainland Europe for their next deals, this team of lawyers is well positioned to win that work.
There is a strategic need for an additional corporate partner in London with a private equity focus. While the team is working with a number of PE houses outside of London, they need to be knocking on those client doors in the City. The firm has had demonstrable success with vertical hires and the role would suit someone who is blocked for partnership and looking for a more client facing role. This role is unique in that there are warm relationships which will be gifted to you in a supportive manner. As a result, the firm is not expecting someone to join with an extensive book of business, but ideally the “makings of” and something complementary, at around £250,000 to £300,000.
The firm stands out in that it is genuinely collegiate. All partners have equity in the business and share the same values so you can leave your armour at home! The mutuality runs from top to bottom and this hire will be given full support to succeed. Given the size of the London offering, this is a great time to join something that is growing with future opportunities on the table.
