Banking & Capital Markets – NQ to 4 PQE – Central London 

Our client, a very well established, well regarded, full-service law firm, is looking to add to its numbers with the appointment of Banking & Capital Markets Lawyer.

The Client

Based in Central London, the firm provide a full spectrum of legal services with clients ranging from some of the world’s largest multinational corporations to private individuals. They also act for a significant number of charities, Registered Providers and Regulators. Almost 200 years of history has shaped our client to one of the UK’s leading full-service law firms.

The Team

The Banking, Governance & Corporate department comprises of over 20 lawyers with additional support. The team is a leader in its field, with substantial experience of complex, mainly property related finance and corporate and commercial work. Much of this is for its “not for profit” clients, predominantly housing associations and local authorities; where the relationship with many of them stretches back well over twenty years. 

The team is the leading legal adviser to housing associations on all of their debt funding activities, including loans, private placements, listed bond issues, security, hedging arrangements and debt re-structuring as part of any merger. 

The Opportunity

The work type for this job involves predominantly Banking - advising borrowers on loan agreements and security, listed bond issues, private placements, ISDA agreements and PFI loan agreements and related funding agreements. 

Within these work areas, regulation, charity law, and community benefit society law will also be involved. 

The Candidate

We are looking for a Solicitor with 0 – 4 year’s PQE, with a Banking and/or Capital Markets background. Work will include, but not be limited to; day to day running of transactions; drafting, reviewing and negotiating all manner of banking and bond documentation; face to face interaction with clients as well as meeting their deadlines; and to be fully involved in marketing and business development in a client focussed manner.

You will have a strong academic background, ideally gaining a 2:1 at degree level; experience of running your own files, under supervision.  You will also be commercially aware, proactive and able to convey clear and concise information to clients and external organisations. A high attention to detail to produce work / documentation which is consistently of a high standard is also essential.
