Commercial/Civil Litigation Partner

My client, a leading South Yorkshire law firm, are looking to recruit a Civil/Commercial Litigator to join them as a Salaried Partner in their Barnsley office. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward thinking and dynamic firm in the local area who are friendly yet professional in approach. Flexible and hybrid working is on offer for the successful candidate although some presence in the office is required at times.

The Role

• Working in a busy litigation team, you will advise clients on a range of litigation matters including (but not limited to) construction disputes, contract disputes, debt recovery matters, contentious probate matters, general company/commercial litigation, insolvency disputes, property litigation, professional negligence and trusts and claims in equity;
• You will meet with clients of the firm and advise them on their claims from start to finish;
• You will meet with third parties and experts in order to progress the claims;
• You will draft all legal paperwork required and negotiate with other parties to reach the best outcome for your client;
• You will mentor and support others within the team;
• You will using the case management and billing systems in order to successfully manage your clients cases; and
• You will keep up to date with all relevant caselaw and legislation.

The Person

• Ideally you will be a qualified solicitor with approximately 8 years or more PQE, although candidates with slightly less experience may also be considered;
• You will be a confident litigator but also a professional who is able and competent at ADR;
• You will have a good amount of advocacy experience and also be confident working with Counsel when required;
• You will be able to work in often time pressured environments and will be very organised;
• You will have excellent client care skills and be commercially aware and be willing to market the department and meet with third parties to potentially encourage further work into the department.
