Legal Counsel job - Swindon/Hybrid Working

Providing tailored solutions across a range of areas, our client is currently looking for a Legal Counsel to join their In House Legal team. They are embracing a flexible working approach so whilst the role will be based in Swindon, there is hybrid working available 2-3 days per week and you could also work from their Bristol office on occasion/if desired. Your new role
Reporting to the GC, you will manage a variety of responsibilities and work with senior stakeholders across the business, as well as international colleagues on a regular basis.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Partnering with Remarketing, Operations and Procurement as their primary legal contact; building an excellent knowledge of these areas to ensure that the legal requirements are met that legal risk is managed, and that legal support is provided as necessary in respect of supplier contracts across the business
- Managing any contentious matters arising in respect of your areas of responsibility
- Building an in-depth knowledge of digital to assist in providing proactive support on digital initiatives, working alongside and supporting other legal team members
- Providing specialist support to the business and other members of the legal team in respect of data privacy
- Management of trademarks in conjunction with the marketing team
- Keeping up to date with legal and regulatory development, keeping the business and legal colleagues informed and taking proactive steps, e.g. ensuring that relevant template documents remain fit for purpose
- Contributing to the Digital & IP platform
What you'll need to succeed
You will have solid commercial acumen and legal skills and will have gained experience of commercial contracts and contract negotiations, ideally within an in-house role, however applications from private practice candidates are also encouraged. Ideally you will have gained experience in a regulated/financial services environment and will have experience in data privacy and digital; litigation experience would also be an advantage. Our client are open minded with regards to PQE level however it is anticipated that you will have a minimum of 2 PQE. Excellent people skills, and familiarity and confidence working with a broad range of stakeholders are a must.
